It technically all started at the Woodie Awards when the Haim sisters were asked who Taylor should date after her breakup with Harry Styles. Alana lowkey predicted their future friendship, saying (per the Daily Mail), “T.T. Swift, don’t date someone else. Come out with us, and we will party, and we will be together as girls and be merry, and we don’t need guys. Girl power.”

Haim was announced as an opening act for select dates of Taylor’s 1989 World Tour, and soon after, Taylor, her childhood BFF Abigail, and the Haim sisters hung out at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy gala.

Haim also spoke about their new friendship with Taylor during an interview with HLN’s The Daily Share. “We ended up just hanging out one night and we realized…we made each other laugh for seven hours straight,” Alana explained. “It was just laughs and I was like, ‘Oh my god, you are literally one of us.’”
Este added, “You know when you meet someone and you’re just like, ‘I’m a puzzle piece, you’re a puzzle piece and we fit together’? That’s what it felt like.”

Taylor announced the release of her 10th album, Evermore, which includes a Haim collab. The sisters teased their involvement on Twitter, writing:
Thus, the iconic “No Body, No Crime” was born. The real crime is that there’s no music video for the track (@Taylor @Haim, call me up, I have some ideas).
Taylor revealed the inspo behind the song during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “Working with the Haim sisters on ‘No Body, No Crime’ was pretty hilarious because it came about after I wrote a pretty dark murder mystery song and had named the character ‘Este’ because she’s the friend I have who would be stoked to be in a song like that.”
She continued, “I had finished the song and was nailing down some lyric details and texted her, ‘You’re not going to understand this text for a few days but...which chain restaurant do you like best?’ and I named a few.” According to Taylor, “She chose Olive Garden and a few days later, I sent her the song and asked if they would sing on it. It was an immediate ‘YES.’”
The Evermore track marked their first collaboration together, and Taylor was well aware of the shock that came along with that fact. “We can’t figure out why we hadn’t collaborated sooner. We’ve toured together, played live together, choreographed dances like we’re at summer camp, but it took a song about avenging your friend’s murder to give us the idea to take this step,” Taylor explained, jokingly adding, “Long story short, I’m the 4th Haim sister now, confirmed.”

At the time, Haim wrote:
“Since we released the album in June, Taylor had always told us that ‘Gasoline’ was her favorite. So when we were thinking about ways to reimagine some of the songs from the record, we immediately thought of her.
