Joshua Jackson has responded to Jodie Turner-Smith's divorce petition with a filing of his own that reportedly lists a completely different date of separation. Per Us Weekly, Jodie listed the date of their separation as being September 13, while Joshua dropped a date two weeks later on September 30. However, they both cited "irreconcilable differences" and requested joint custody of their daughter.

An insider previously told Us Weekly that Jodie's divorce filing came as a surprise to Joshua, who was "clearly caught off guard by Jodie’s decision to divorce. They had their issues, as many couples do—especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child. Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy. Their friends are baffled and trying to understand how this came about."

At the time, the source noted that some of the their friends were "hoping" for reconciliation," but that Jodie was “quite sure of her decision” and “the ball is in Joshua’s court, though right now he’s likely trying to sort things out himself.”

Meanwhile, a source told People in early October that “They are on very different paths in life. Jodie loves being a mom. She also loves working. It turned into an unhealthy marriage that made her unhappy. They will co-parent their daughter. They want her to continue to thrive."
