How many things can go wrong when a restaurateur's brother comes back into his life? The answer to those watching Black Rabbit is: all of the things. Not all of Jake's (Jude Law) problems stem from Vince (Jason Bateman). His newly successful restaurant Black Rabbit is dealing with a sexual harassment scandal. He's having an affair with the girlfriend of one of his investors. And when Vince adds gambling debts and dangerous criminals to the mix, everything really starts to fall apart.

Almost every effort that the two brothers have made to pay off a debt owed to a crime boss named Mancuso (Troy Kotspur) fail, including an insurance scam and a charity dinner robbery. The limited series on Netflix takes several casualties before the final episode. Over the course of the chaos that ensues as Vince returns and tips the domino chain holding the restaurant together over, a musician named Wes, a former bartender named Anna, and a renegade thug called Junior (a.k.a. Mancuso's son) are killed. In the final episode, the fates of the brothers and their family hang in the balance.

Is Vince's daughter Gen alive?

In the penultimate episode, once Jake and Vince realize that Mancuso and his men are coming to hurt them, they try and get their families to safety. But Gen, Vince's estranged adult daughter, refuses to go with them. She acknowledges that it's a stupid decision, but insists that it's her choice... which unfortunately doesn't soften the blow when she gets kidnapped approximately 30 seconds later.

Jake goes to Mancuso voluntarily to bargain for her release and sells out his brother in the process by sending him into a trap. Luckily, Jake's dirtbag brother manages to escape the clutches of Mancuso's men. The two meet up and make a run for it. Vince is wanted in connected to Wes' death and the shooting at the restaurant during the afore-mentioned robbery, so the cops are after him too.

Do the brothers set aside their differences?

As they're trying to hide, Jake and Vince tie up some loose ends in their relationship. Vince admits to killing their father, who abused them and their mother. Jake admits that he already knows this and that it doesn't change his love for his brother.

They go to the Black Rabbit, the last place anyone will look for him. Jake makes a plan to get Vince out of town. But unbeknownst to his brother, Vince calls the cops and admits to the robbery and Wes' murder—even though it was kind of an accident. Then, calling back to a bet he once made about jumping from a roof, Vince drops to the ground and dies by suicide. He sacrifices himself so that Jake can be move on without him. It's genuinely upsetting that he decided this was the answer and acted on it. You want to believe that they could have worked things out another way.

What happens to the titular Black Rabbit?

The restaurant and its dysfunctional found family breaks up after what they've been through and survived. Jules, who assaulted Anna back in the day and was under investigation, gets arrested. The head chef, Roxie, gets a fresh start at a new restaurant called Anna's with Tony and some of the other former Black Rabbit staffers on her team. Wes' final album gets a posthumous release. Jake also gets a fresh start at a new establishment as a bartender, and even makes up with Mancuso after they've both lost family members. We see him taking his son to dance class, as well! While it's sad to not see Vince thriving alongside them, at least they've all made the best of a harrowing situation.
