Demi Lovato is having a major moment. The powerhouse vocalist kicked off her It’s Not That Deep Tour at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, on Monday, April 13, after taking some time to protect her health—and some familiar faces came along, too.
According to footage captured by journalist Tomás Mier, Demi’s childhood bestie, Selena Gomez, pulled up and supported her on the opening night of her tour. In other words: Nature is healing!
She watched the tour’s opening act, ADÉLA, but also stuck around to dance along to Demi’s hits, per a cute clip of her rocking It’s Not That Deep merch on her Instagram Stories. The Rare Beauty founder even praised Demi’s pipes on a separate slide, writing, “I am in tears. @ddlovato – this was hands down one of the best shows. Oh and the VOCALS? Psh blown away.”
Sel also made her way backstage to catch up and reunite with Demi, with whom she worked on projects like Barney and Princess Protection Program back in the day. The “Kiss” singer reposted the snap on her Instagram Stories after the show, writing, “thank you so much for coming!! loved seeing you.”
Best of all, this happened:
If that wasn’t enough Disney Channel sweetness, Demi’s Camp Rock co-star, Joe Jonas, joined her onstage to perform “This Is Me,” returning the favor from her appearance at the Jonas Brothers’ show in East Rutherford, New Jersey, last August. He also sang their JoBros duet from her debut album, “On the Line,” with her for the first time in almost 17 years.
Demi and Selena’s reunion comes after Demi revealed where they currently stand during a March 3 appearance on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. She shared how her friendship with Selena made her feel “safe” in such a competitive landscape when they were child stars.
“What was beautiful is, Selena and I had a friendship prior to Disney Channel because we were actually on Barney together,” Demi explained. “So, I felt this safety when I came into the Disney Channel, having a built-in friendship there, already. I’m so grateful for that, and will always be grateful for the friendship that I have and continue to have with her.”
We simply love to see it. Now, @Demi and Selena…when will y’all finally perform “One and the Same” together? Asking for myself.
