The last we heard about Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s budding relationship, the pop star and former Canadian Prime Minister were hitting the breaks. But not all is as it seems, according to a new report that claims that Katy and Justin are still dating, but they’re making an effort to keep things “private” for now.
“They’ve decided to be much more private about it,” a source told Us Weekly. “They are still speaking and are very interested in each other.” That said, don’t expect wedding bells to be ringing for the couple anytime soon.
As a second source told Us Weekly, Justin and Katy aren’t “serious,” in large part because he is a politician and she is “extremely busy right now” on her Lifetimes Tour. Per this second source, the two are planing to see each other in person in a few weeks after Katy wraps her Brazil tour dates. “Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating,” they added.
Katy and Justin first sparked dating rumors in July, when they were photographed enjoying a casual but intimate-looking dinner in Montreal. Soon after, Justin was spotted attending one of Katy’s concerts. Things seemed promising, with Katy’s ex Orlando Bloom even commenting on the reports.
However, it wasn’t long after that a source told The Daily Mail that things had “cooled off,” in part due to the media attention. “I know for a fact that Justin wasn’t thrilled about the pictures getting out,” the source said, referencing the paparazzi shots of their first date.
“Here’s the thing: If you’re going to be with Katy, you have to deal with the paparazzi and the fallout,” the source continued. “I don’t know how prepared he was for that.”
