Shopping at this time of year is tricky. The summer collections are all on sale, meaning it’s a great chance to snap up a bargain, but sizing is, sadly, often limited. On the other hand, autumn collections are arriving in store when it’s still far too hot to even consider wearing knitwear and jeans. What we want are pieces that feel new and trend-led, that we can wear for the rest of the warm weather *and* (crucially) also see us into next season. Admittedly, it’s a tall order...
Well, we think we may have just found the ultimate buy that ticks every box. Look no further than Marks & Spencer’s Pure Cotton Palazzo Wide Leg Trousers.
In a gorgeous chocolate brown colourway, they’re right on trend. The rich hue has dominated 2026 and is sticking around for winter, too. Cut in a flowing silhouette and made from 100% cotton, they have a relaxed, breezy feel that’s ideal for keeping cool through the last of the warm weather. Our favourite detail, though, is easily the wrapover tie waistband, which is not only super flattering but makes these trousers look far more expensive than their high street price tag.
When it comes to styling, pair them with a simple white tank top for pub drinks with friends. Heading to the beach on your summer holiday? Add a bikini top, flip-flops and a raffia tote (per the model). Then, come autumn, style them with a short-sleeve cardigan or roll-neck top – basically, anything close-fitting to balance out the volume of the trousers – and ballet flats, and you’re good to go.
Not quite the style for you? Below, find more chocolate brown wide-leg trousers that will take you effortlessly from summer into next season:
