Prince William and Kate Middleton are gearing up to casually become King and Queen of England sometime in the near-ish future, and their glow-up will put the Middleton family even further in the spotlight. Including, potentially, Kate's sister Pippa Middleton.

While Pippa isn't actually an officially member of the royal family, it's possible that Kate could make her sister a "Lady in Waiting" when she becomes queen. Because yes, apparently that's still a thing.

People reports that Queen Kate could actually appoint both her sister and her mother (Carole Middleton) as her "companions," but confirms the role definitely won't come with an official title.

If you're wondering what a "companion" is, it's the new descriptor for "lady in waiting" that Queen Camilla came up with when she was crowned. Camilla has six "companions" including Sarah Troughton; Fiona, the Marchioness of Lansdowne; Lady Katharine Brooke; Baroness Carlyn Chisholm; Lady Sarah Kewick; and Jane von Westenholz. Per Today, their job duties include "supporting the Queen at official engagements."

And fun fact, they all showed up to the coronation looking exactly like Queen Camilla:

FYI, Camilla also has two staff members as her unofficial ladies in waiting. As a source told The Daily Mail, "When she got married and set up her own office for the first time, she got two brilliant private secretaries, Amanda Macmanus and Joy Camm. But they were very much ‘two for the price of one.' Not only did they arrange all her engagements and projects, but they also acted as ladies-in-waiting if needed, accompanying her on official duties, collecting bouquets of flowers and the like. No one stands on ceremony in her office, everyone mucks in."
