- Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini are "over," according to a source.
- Chase confirmed the split on Instagram Stories, saying "I'm blocked, I did nothing wrong."
- The couple previously broke up in September, only to get back together in early November.
Yesterday, while everyone was minding their own business and enjoying a mid-afternoon doom scroll, Chase Stokes hopped onto Instagram and...seemingly confirmed his split from Kelsea Ballerini. In case you missed it, the Outer Banks star wrote, "Don't believe the media. I'm blocked, I did nothing wrong. Sorry. I tried." He then posted, "I'm sorry for those who believed in us. It is what it is. Onwards and upwards."
So...what's going on? A source tells Us Weekly that Chase and Kelsea are "done," adding that they split up "this past week." Apparently, things have been "rocky and toxic" between the pair, and "it was too much for Kelsea."
As for why they split, "jealousy definitely got in the way" and Kelsea "had a lot of trust issues" with Chase—in part because it's "been hard for her to trust again" post-divorce.
The insider confirms that Kelsea "of course cares" about Chase, but says they "aren't talking right now" and that there were "a lot of expectations" that resulted in the breakup. "Chase really did try to make it work and loves her," the source says. "There’s a chance they could get back together."
Reminder that Kelsea and Chase first broke up a few months ago in September, at which point a source told Us Weekly, in part, "They had been arguing a lot recently." They got back together in early November.
