• Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly relieved they didn't have to move into one of the royal family's many palaces.
  • The couple just left Adelaide Cottage and moved into Forest Lodge.
  • Forest Lodge will allegedly be Will and Kate's "forever home," though their lease is technically temporary.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are back to doing tons of public engagements after Kate's break from the spotlight to focus on her heath—and a source tells the Daily Mail that they're happier than ever.

"It’s still an ongoing process," the insider says. "But I think this year has felt much more normal than anyone had expected, or even dared to hope. Catherine has very much enjoyed getting back out – and doing the things that she loves."

Another source adds that "it’s a new normal rather than the normal we once knew, if that makes sense? We will see the pace of things continue in the same vein without any great change. But the shoots of recovery are definitely there."

The couple just moved into their new "forever home" Forest Lodge in Windsor, and it's been a solid "fresh start" for the family, who are relieved they didn't have to move into a giant palace. In fact, being able to put down roots in a smaller space (to be clear: Forest Lodge is still a mansion) instead of somewhere like Windsor Castle is a "weight off their shoulders."

"They seem happier than they have in a long time," says another insider. "It’s been the fresh start the family needed after a difficult couple of years. It’s their intention to stay there for a very long time."

Meanwhile, a friend adds that "one steadfast thing that hasn’t changed is that the children remain at the centre of her universe, and William’s. They continue to be hands-on parents. Nothing matters to them more."

Love to hear it, though for what it's worth there's been some major drama with the Forest Lodge move. More on that....
