- Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated after almost 20 years of marriage.
- News of the split broke on September 29, but Nicole and Keith have reportedly been living apart since early summer.
- Multiple sources say the separation was one-sided and Nicole fought to stay together.
Still reeling from Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's breakup? Very much same, especially considering their red carpet vibes were among the most loved-up in Hollywood. But sadly, TMZ broke the news yesterday that the long-time couple had split after 19 years of marriage, and that Keith had initiated things.
And now multiple sources are chiming in with confirmation that the breakup was pretty much entirely one-sided.
An insider tells Page Six that "sometimes relationships just run their course," adding that Nicole "did not want the separation and was trying to save things." Meanwhile, E! News wrote that "Nicole did not want to part ways with Keith and has been trying to save the marriage since they opted to live apart in the beginning of the summer."
This follows what TMZ and People reported—TMZ noted that that Nicole "did not want the separation and has been trying to save the marriage," while People spoke to a source who said "she didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage."
So yep, that's four (4) sources all confirming that this split was 100 percent Keith's decision.
FYI, Nicole has opened up about struggles in her marriage before, and in 2021 told Harper’s Bazaar, "We’re always working through stuff, but it’s very much love-based, so there’s an enormous amount of give and take. I want him to have the best life he can have, and he responds the same way."
She also spoke about meeting Keith following her split from Tom Cruise, saying in part, "I’m wary at times, and I’ve been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach. My husband, Keith, says that when he met me, he said, 'How’s your heart?' And I apparently responded, 'Open.'"
