I'll be the first to say that I love White Lotus. And I looooved season 3. Truly. But now that I've seen the finale, there were a lot of plot points throughout the season that seem to have fallen through the cracks. Despite having more episodes than any previous season, I came away from the season finale with almost as many questions as answers. Like, what was the point of Kate recognizing Victoria from that one weekend 10 years prior? And why didn't the three Russian robbers face any consequences? Here are all the dropped or unresolved plot lines that are still bugging me the day after watching.
The Piper virginity plot line
Piper's brothers spent a lot of time talking about whether she was a virgin or not for this to just... never come up again. Apparently there was a scene in the initial drafts of the finale where she does lose her virginity, but without that scene in there, it feels like a bit of wasted energy.
The Monkeys
There was a lot of monkey b-roll to not even have a single guest get chased by a monkey. Just saying.
The Victoria/Kate interaction
Guys, remember when there was a whole extremely awkward scene between Victoria and Kate at breakfast where Kate reminds Victoria that they've met before? What was the point of that? It never comes up again. I guess it was maybe used to tell the viewer how out of it Victoria is when she takes her pills because she obviously doesn't remember Kate. But that feels unsatisfying.
The Russian robbery
Okay, I'm mad about how this was resolved (or rather, how it wasn't). Valentin and his crew just... get away with the robbery? There are literally no repercussions for them? We spent so much time on this! I find the lack of consequences surprising, especially after Gaitok's promotion to bodyguard. He's in an even better position to rat out his former coworker. There's basically no downside for him. Maybe this is where his conscience kicks in? I'm not sure, but considering the amount of time we spent on this plot, I'm mad we didn't get more justice.
The Ratliffs' ending
I have a lot of questions about the final few times we see the Ratliffs on screen. First, where were Piper, Victoria and Saxon during the shooting? And why do none of them seem even remotely impacted by the fact that they just survived a mass shooting? Isn't Saxon sad that Chelsea died? He was kind of in love with her! Don't they have to stay for questioning or police procedure?
Also, is anyone going to acknowledge that their brother almost died? Does anyone even know!? Does Lochlan ever find out his dad was the one who almost killed him?
The opening Zion scene
In the first scene of the premiere, we see Zion in his meditation session with Amrita as the shooting starts. He runs out to try to find his mom, and encounters a dead body in the water. He runs away, terrified. But then when we actually watch that in real time, we never get to see that moment again. The last we see of Zion he's on the boat, waving at the staff, speeding off with his mom, $5 million richer. Wouldn't he be, like, completely traumatized? He discovered a dead body!
The Timothy/Rick beef
I know this was probably just used to establish how "different" Rick and Timothy are only to have Timothy brought so low by his own actions that we realize they're not that different, but I kinda wanted them to fight! Just me?
The Fabian music career aspirations
There was a lot of talk from Fabian about wanting to be a singer and performer, only for us to get 10 seconds worth of a song? Come on! I needed him to fall on his face a bit more spectacularly.
Rick's source of income
"A little bit of this, a little bit of that" as Rick's job title is simply not enough. Where did he get all this money from? Based on his performance at Sritala's house, he's clearly not a con man, because he's very bad at being a con man! So how's he getting his bag? I must know.
