I’m going to let you in on a lil secret. I typically dislike sweet perfumes; candyfloss-infused, caramel-dripping kinds of scents aren’t for me, but vanilla is. I cannot get enough of it. That cozy, comforting, stereotypically "girlie" note is so often intermingled in my fragrance collection, and it works so well with other notes, whether you like light florals or deep woody scents like I do. Scent layering is key to long-lasting smells, and popping on a body mist post-shower can really boost your scent profile and breathe life into your signature scent.
The best part is that they are often way more affordable than eau de parfums and eau de toilettes, which is probs why there has been such an increase in the body mist market this year. It went from a few cheaper brands offering an alternative to perfumes to all of our faves from Phlur to Glossier and of course, Sol de Janeiro. Vanilla body mists are the most popular scent for a reason; they level up your fragrance game by adding complexity to your scent and stretching the lasting power as it dries down. But some of these new mists pack enough of a punch to wear alone. If you prefer more personal scents that don’t scream when you enter a room, a body spray could be an excellent alternative. But I really love wearing these mists to bed. I just spritz it on after I’ve brushed my teeth, and it makes me feel so warm and calm.
