- A production insider claimed Bravo executives are unhappy with the Vanderpump Rules season 12 reboot, saying the new cast “is not landing” with viewers as expected.
- According to the source, what was meant to be a major revival has become a disappointment, putting the possibility of a season 13 in jeopardy.
- Bravo rebooted the series with a brand-new cast to move past fractures within the original group and return the show to its earlier roots.
The Vanderpump Rules reboot just premiered on Bravo last week, but apparently, it could already be in hot water. According to a production insider, the all-new cast introduced in season 12 “is not landing with the audience like the network thought before they filmed,” possibly putting VPR’s future in jeopardy.
“Bravo execs are struggling with the reboot,” the source told The Sun. The reported reason? “They don’t find the show to be as good—that’s the biggest issue.”
The insider continued, “The numbers for premiere week ratings are still coming in, and it’s still early, but based on early numbers, the lack of audience reaction, engagement, and overall interest, it’s likely at this point that the reboot will not come back. It seems like Vanderpump Rules’ time on TV has come to an end if they can’t turn the ship around.”
Per the source, what was supposed to be “this big revival turned out to be a letdown,” adding, “They had big plans and ultimately couldn’t deliver.”
It was first announced by Bravo back in November 2024 that VPR would be rebooted with a brand-new cast for season 12, and fans were... skeptical, to say the least. According to People, Bravo recast the show because “there were so many fractions” among the original SURvers and “the network felt there was no path forward with the group in that capacity.”
Of the reboot, the source explained, “This is an attempt to recalibrate and bring the show back to the thing that made it such a success to begin with. It’s a fresh start, and the players they have are interested and motivated to participate. Fans will be happy with what they see. It’s going to feel like a return to form.”
And what does the new VPR cast think of the backlash surrounding the reboot? Seemingly, they’re unbothered!
“I just feel very grateful for all the love that we’ve had at SUR and all the fans that have come in,” new cast member Venus Binkley recently told Us Weekly. “I know that there’s a lot of hate on the internet, but it just feels really nice to be surrounded by people who do love us, and the cast is sticking together no matter what.”
