A new dating app, Toffee, has been released, and you're only allowed to use if you went to private school.

"Toffee knows and research shows that opposites don't always attract, so the app intelligently brings together people with similar backgrounds and shared experiences who are more likely to stick together," co-founder Lydia Davis explained.

As examples of interests that users can input through "sliders" to check compatibility with potential partners, some of those cited include "horse racing" and "rugby". Users can also gain access to members-only clubs in London.

Davis argued to The Telegraph that "the aim [of Toffee] isn't to promote snobbery or social division, it's to help people meet and fall in love". However, people on social media are naturally having a field day:

Reflecting on the inevitable backlash, Davis told The Mirror:

"I knew it would be controversial. Privately educated people make up a small part of the population [7%]. I know it might bring about lots of feelings, but it's not meant to offend anyone.
"The social climate is hard and social division is more relevant than ever. It's difficult. All this is being talked about and I know they're big issues. But Toffee is just a dating app for a group of people. We're not trying to be snobby. Lots of people think it's a great idea."

We're saying nothing.
