Another day, another load of drama courtesy of Married At First Sight UK. This time around, groom Steven Springett has spoken to out to clear up the rumour that he has some slightly suspect white powder under his nose on his wedding day to Nelly Patel... leading some to question his behaviour.

In response to fans questioning whether or not the footballer-turned-investment-banker was a bit "too happy" on his big day, Steven dropped a comment on TikTok explaining that the 'white powder' under his nose was somewhat of an optical illusion, and is something that has caused confusion in the past.

"Can confirm that is my scar," he said, adding “I get it all the time as well, so you're not the first."

Sadly, prior to appearing on the show Steven was the victim of a brutal attack at the hands of nine men outside of a nightclub back in 2009, leaving him with severe injuries and facial scarring.

Posting on Instagram about the life-altering experience, Steven said the night he was attacked was supposed to be a celebration for two of his friends before they headed off to uni.

"At the end of the night, whilst leaving the club to get a McDs, I was approached by 9 young men [...] a verbal discussion took place which then escalated very quickly in a physical altercation," he wrote.

Everyone's clicking on...

He detailed that his injuries ranged from a shattered nose, to cuts under his nose resulting in stitches, two broken teeth, a fractured cheekbone and 31 stitches being required in his chin.

"What you don’t know and what people over many years did not see is the mental torment it had put me through – which in time you will, I’m sure," he bravely added.

"But I came through it. It may have took me years to get back to a state of mind where I felt happy with myself but nothing will ever break me. Because even at my worst physically and mentally I still overcome it."

He encouraged his followers to "use [bad experiences] as fuel to create a better life for your future self, then you’ll see how resilient you truly are".
