Ever since his flyby visit earlier this month, rumours have been doing the rounds that Prince Harry is harbouring hopes that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will follow in his footsteps and receive a private education in the UK.

So much so, that Harry has now issued a rare response to the reports that he would specifically like Archie to attend Eton College (a private school notorious for educating not only the royals but the likes of former prime ministers, Boris Johnson and David Cameron) and that he has already put his son's name on the waiting list.

It's said that Prince George, Prince William's son and Archie's cousin, is already registered for Eton too, has been assigned a house and will attend from next September, after much deliberation by his parents.

Now, however, the Duke of Sussex is speaking out and clarifying that Archie is not in line for Eton. At least, not at this current time (well, he is only six...).

A Sussex spokesperson said to the Daily Mail: "Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so."

Given that Harry's relationship with his family is still going through a defrosting phase – he recently met with his father, the King, but not his brother, Prince William – it makes sense that he and wife, Meghan the Duchess of Sussex, wouldn't be locking in British schooling just yet. There's also the issue of security, which the Duke has tried to remedy via a lengthy, legal battle – after he and Meghan stepped down from their public-facing royal duties, the intense level of security offered to the pair was revoked.
