President Donald Trump is back in the UK for a second state visit, and spent time with the royal family ahead of a lavish banquet in his honour.
Trump, who arrived at Windsor Castle with wife Melania, was personally greeted by Prince William and Kate.
And while Trump reportedly called William “his friend”, he was quick to immediately praise Kate for her looks.
It is thought the 79-year-old president said to Kate that she was “so beautiful, so beautiful”, before he was introduced to King Charles and wife Queen Camilla.
Kate took the compliment in her stride, and was seen smiling at Trump in response.
These weren’t the only words of praise that Trump had for Kate, with the president then discussing the Princess of Wales at the speech he delivered at the state banquet.
Everyone's clicking on...
In a gushing tribute, Trump, who was seated next to King Charles at the 160-person dinner, described Kate as “so radiant and so healthy, it’s so beautiful.”
The speech seemed to point towards Kate’s previous health issues, after she privately underwent cancer treatment last year.
Trump is no stranger to schmoozing with royalty. In his book The Art of the Comeback, he previously described being enthralled by the late Princess Diana – and regretted never having had the opportunity to date her. He describes Diana as someone who “lit up the room” before adding she was “a dream lady”.
While the royal family and politicians laid out the red carpet for Trump, not everyone is thrilled to see the widely disliked American president in the UK for a second time.
Many took to Windsor to hold up signs of protest Trump and his policies outside the castle.
Meanwhile, it’s thought 3000 people took to protest in central London about Trump’s unprecedented second state visit.
