• King Charles and Prince Harry met for the first time in 19 months during Harry's trip to the UK
  • The secret meeting was an "olive branch wrapped in a test" from the royals, who are worried about leaks... and then Harry went and gave another tell-all interview about how his "conscience is clear"
  • An insider says "there were hugs and tears at the meeting."

After King Charles and Prince Harry recently reunited in England, the vibe from the royals was very much "wait and see." Meaning: it'll be "back to square one" if any details of the meeting emerge... And now Prince Harry has given an interview in which he says his "conscience is clear". Oh?

Per a source in The Times, "Over recent years, the Palace has become more and more exasperated when every meeting, call or Christmas card gets briefed to the media, with commentary on potential meetings between them. But it gets harder and harder to explain to the public why you would not make time to see your son. There is a recognition that people want to see a thawing."

They added that "the King loves his son and will have been aching to see him when he could. But this is an olive branch wrapped in a test—if any details of the meeting emerge or there is any commentary from Harry’s camp, it will be back to square one."

Harry has mostly stayed quiet about the meeting, simply saying his dad is "great." But he did just open up to The Guardian about his book, Spare, saying "I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected. I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear."

Meanwhile, an Us Weekly source had some details from the meeting, and said it "was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry earlier this year to Charles expressing his desire to reconnect. They were not sure it was going to happen until just in the last week."

The insider added that the get together was "super positive and very relaxed" and that "They were catching up personally about the children and what has been going on with Charles and his health. There were hugs and tears at the meeting."
