It's hard to believe but today (8 September 2025) marks a whole three years since Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 – just days after being photographed meeting the then-Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
Now, paying tribute to his mother and her mother-in-law, King Charles and Queen Camilla have shared a special post in honour of Elizabeth on their social media.
Alongside an image of the late Queen looking resplendent in a blue outfit, complete with her signature matching hat and some historic jewellery (this time around a sapphire and pearl brooch), the King and Queen Consort wrote a simple message: "Remembering Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022".
Supporters of the royals and the late Queen took to the comments to share their condolences and memories of Her Majesty in response, with one writing, "Can’t believe it’s 3 years 😢".
Another remarked that they remembered Queen Elizabeth II "as such an inspiring woman 🥹💙", while a third said, "Still remember hearing the news. It felt the world stopped for a moment".
The anniversary of the Queen's death coincides with Prince Harry returning to the UK for a four-day visit, sparking hopes of a reconciliation between him and the other royals.

During this trip, the Prince is set to attend the WellChild Awards in London, a charity supporting unwell children and their families, for which he has been a patron for 17 years, and announce a substantial donation to Children in Need while in Nottingham.
It's hoped that he may also spend time with his father and brother, Prince William, but nothing has been formally confirmed on that front.
