Prince William is already planning his reign as King, and the to-do list includes potentially stripping his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew of his title.
At this point, Andrew is pretty much banned from royal events and is only allowed to attend private family functions. But he refuses to leave his fancy home (the Royal Lodge) and a source tells The Telegraph that "something still needs to be done."
Meanwhile, the general consensus is that the 'Prince Andrew question' will become Prince William's problem once he's King.
Royal biographer Christopher Wilson adds that "I think to a large extent Charles has adhered to that as a safe policy – the moment you start tearing the family apart, where does it stop? With William it will be a different approach – he has hard-nosed ideas about how the Royal family needs to appear in the frenzied social media world we now inhabit, and I think will be ruthless."
Apparently, William has several options as to how he can reduce his uncle's standing further – including forbidding Andrew from attending his coronation, removing his Order of the Garter, and stripping him of his 'Prince' title, a move that would require a lot of tricky paperwork and legal figuring out.
One source says "If there was a serious move to take [a title] away, particularly at that level, you do it through both houses [of Parliament]," while another adds that "Is it likely at this point? No. But is it possible? Yes."
FYI, a couple months ago royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News that William was intent on making sure Andrew is both "banished" and "vanished," and that he'll deal with "the Andrew problem" immediately upon becoming King. Noted!
