King Charles III's coronation is still two months away, but that hasn't stopped the royal buzz from buzzing. In fact, royal fans have had plenty of questions about whether Prince Harry and Meghan will be on the guest list, as well as whether or not the King's grandchildren will play a role in the historical day. Now, it seems, we have an answer to at least one of those questions.
According to a source who spoke to The Sunday Times, Kate Middleton is happy for Prince George to take part in the coronation on one condition: that he is not subjected to "overwhelming scrutiny". The newspaper also reported that Kate and Prince William are due to meet with King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla to discuss the role that George might play in the ceremony. Notably, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will not take part in the events, but will attend as spectators.
Speaking about the significance of George's potential role in the King's coronation, royal historian Hugo Vickers told the newspaper: "Bringing George in also sends all the right symbolism for the future and gives him something he will always remember."
If George does get the green light to play a role in the coronation, this will be a major break from tradition. Both Charles and his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, did not take part in the coronations of their respective parent (or, in this case, grandparent), instead watching from the congregation.
"It is certainly different," the royal historian added. "This coronation is getting more interesting by the minute."
