There is no denying that, for many people across the UK, today is a poignant day. The Royal Family along with leaders from across the world have gathered together in London to pay their respects as Britain's longest-serving monarch is laid to rest. Among those bidding farewell to Her Majesty is Meghan Markle who has been in the UK with her husband, Prince Harry, since the Queen passed away on 8 September.

To recap, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who live in California with their two children – were in Germany at the time promoting the Invictus Games. But, as news broke that Her Majesty's health was declining, the couple flew over to the UK with the hopes of being by the Queen's side as she passed.

Since then, they've met mourners at Windsor Castle and Prince Harry found himself at the centre of a conversation about his right to wear military uniform. They've also put on a united front with Prince William and Kate Middleton as the former 'Fab Four' support each other through such an emotional time. And it was that very emotion that was captured by a photographer earlier today when Meghan was seen wiping away tears during the Queen's funeral.

The moving moment was captured on camera as the state funeral procession left Westminster Abbey for Wellington Arch. The Queen Consort, the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex watched on as King Charles III and his siblings marched off. It was then that Meghan – wearing long, black gloves – dabbed her face as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

Last week, shortly after Her Majesty's death, Prince Harry released a statement on the Archewell website that he shares with Meghan. "In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen – and in mourning her loss – we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty," he said. "She was globally admired and respected."

Harry continued: "Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings – from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.

Everyone's clicking on...

"I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III."

Our thoughts are with all those mourning Her Majesty at this emotional time.
