Prince William and Prince Harry continued to pay tribute to their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, today by leading a moving silent vigil at Westminster Hall alongside the rest of Her Majesty's grandchildren.
For 15 minutes, the Prince of Wales stood at the head of the coffin, while Prince Harry stood at the foot. They were joined by their cousins, the Queen's six other grandchildren - Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and Viscount Severn.
Flanking William were Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, and flanking Harry were Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and Viscount Severn, stood near the middle of the coffin. Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, were also in attendance.
This is the first time in history that the grandchildren of a monarch have taken part in the vigil ceremony, according to the BBC. Harry also wore his military uniform for the first time since 2020, reportedly at the special request of his father King Charles III.
This comes after the Duke of Sussex, who stepped down as a senior working royal, previously addressed the initial ban, with a spokesperson for the Prince saying: "His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears." However, just a few days later, it was reported that Harry would be allowed to wear his uniform at today's vigil, though not at the Queen's funeral.
On Friday evening, a similar vigil was attended by Her Majesty's four children: King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, who all dressed in their military uniforms.
The final vigil for the Queen comes ahead of her funeral, which will take place on Monday at Westminster Abbey. Following the service, the Queen will be laid to rest at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, where her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, is also buried.
