It’s always a mix of nerves and excitement when starting school, regardless of whether you're Royal. Yesterday was the Cambridge kids first day at their new school, luckily dodging the rain during the morning run altogether.
The trio have enrolled in the prestigious Lambrook school in Berkshire, located down the road from their new home at Adelaide Cottage, Windsor. And we’re not surprised to hear that fees for all three children will be close to £55,000 each year.
It is the first time all three siblings have attended school together. Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven previously attended Thomas's Battersea in London, but for little Prince Louis, it was his first time attending school yesterday. Fully aware of it being his youngest son's first experience, Prince William was seen stroking Louis' hair in a reassuring manner – so cute!
The siblings walked confidently into Lambrook wearing fresh uniforms, while holding William and Kate's hands – and honestly they look so smart (and suddenly very grown up!). While doing so, William candidly revealed his endearing way to address his children collectively, calling them ‘the gang’ as they entered the private school grounds.
Their Headmaster Jonathan Perry, stood waiting to greet the young royals, ready to shake hands, adding it’s "lovely to have you with us". To which William said they were "all looking forward to it" and had "lots of questions" – a classic first day at a totally new school.
Some children are boarding, but as it stands the Cambridge children will be day pupils and return to their home in Windsor. A royal source said the Cambridge children were particularly excited to all be going to the same school for the first time, adding, "They're really excited about starting a new school together, and I think mum and dad are too."
Everyone's clicking on...
We would be excited too, as the school isn’t just any regular school. It sits in 52 acres of gorgeous Berkshire countryside – close to Ascot Racecourse. It has a nine-hole golf course and swimming pool as well as bees, chickens and pigs for pupils to look after. Reckon they get to hang out on the mini farm on their lunch breaks?
The Cambridge kids aren't the first royals to study at the school either. Lambrook has previously taught two of Queen Victoria's grandsons, Prince Christian Victor and Prince Albert of Schleswig-Holstein.
We wish the Cambridge gang the best of luck at their new school!
