Yesterday, Meghan Markle released the first episode of her new podcast, Archetypes, on Spotify and the first guest to officially make an appearance was tennis pro Serena Williams. For most of the episode, the two of them get stuck in to talking about everything from race to motherhood, and the double standards women face when it comes to ambition.
The pair also discussed the domino effect these misconceptions can have on the rest of their lives. So, you know, a pretty important and touching listen.
However, alongside Serena, another guest made a very quick and unexpected appearance: Prince Harry... and even though his appearance was brief, it was long enough for us to notice the super heartwarming pet name that Meghan has for her husband, as she let it slip during their conversation.
Popping up at the start of their chat, Harry politely interrupts to say hello and compliments Serena’s hair calling it “a great vibe”, before urging the athlete to come and visit them.
It’s at this moment that the Duchess of Sussex lets listeners in on her adorable nickname for her husband, saying to Harry as he leaves the room, “Thanks my love!” How cute? And honestly, it sounds so candid and natural that we can’t help but think it's a rather popular figure of speech in the Sussex household.
But that's not the only nickname Meghan has for Harry either - another classic is ‘Haz’, which she let royal fans know about when Harry did a ‘tour of LA’ interview with James Corden. Or how about during her interview whilst on tour in South Africa, where the Duchess revealed to Tom Bradby that she calls Harry ‘H’?
Everyone's clicking on...
Of course the Prince (or should we call him Haz now?) has a few names up his sleeve for Meghan too. During an Invictus Games Reception in April 2018, Harry was filmed saying: "Meg! Meg!" while trying to get his then-fiancé’s attention. Maybe it's something we'll spot him saying when the couple pay a visit to the UK next month?
As for other fun pet names, it appears the entire royal family love a good nickname just as much as the next. Even the future king, Prince Charles, is in on the action – and is apparently fond of calling Meghan 'Tungsten', after he likened her tough and unbending personality to the strong metal.
My love, Tungsten, Meg... It certainly sounds like the Duchess has plenty of options!
