We may be deep in the midst of summer (hello heatwave!), but we can't deny that a small part of us is very much looking forward to the cooler seasons – which mean guilt-free evenings spent binging our fave TV shows as we eat takeout in our PJs.

One such series that we can't wait to have back on our screens is The Crown, which is due to return to Netflix in November. Hurrah! And it seems as though we might have even more to be excited about, as a TV insider has revealed to Page Six that Netflix is planning to coincide The Crown's release with a new docuseries from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

ICYMI, in 2020 the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a reported multi-million dollar deal with the streaming giant, with plans to create a range of programming. Now, Page Six's source claims that Netflix is aiming to get the Sussexes' docuseries on the platform ahead of schedule – although the couple want to hold off on its release until next year.

"There is a lot to organise and a lot of things at play here. Netflix wants to make sure they get in there and don’t get scooped [by Harry's memoir]," the insider claimed, referencing Prince Harry's memoir that is due to be published towards the end of the year.

"[Netflix executives] knew the book was coming out, which is why they wanted the series this year," the source added. "They don’t want to hold off any longer."

The memoir, which has been written by JR Moehringer, is expected to cover Harry’s childhood and his time in the military. According to Page Six, the book will also feature "stories that could be unwelcome in the Royal Family."

Everyone's clicking on...

As for what we can expect in the fifth season of The Crown, many of the actors have been replaced – such as Imelda Staunton (who you'll recognise as Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter) who has taken over the role of the Queen from Olivia Coleman. The fifth instalment of the hit show will take a closer look at the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and we'll see the couple's marriage come to an end followed by their relationships with other people (notably Dodi Fayed), and ultimately, Diana's tragic death.

The Crown countdown is well and truly on...
