It's been a busy few days for the Royal Family as the whole clan came together for the first time in several years to celebrate the Queen's history-making Platinum Jubilee. But, as the royals reunited – some of whom haven't seen each other since before the COVID-19 pandemic – not all of them were quite as reunited as we would have liked. Take the Awesome Foursome for example, who we expected to see attending everything and anything together over the four-day weekend. But, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were noticably missing from the Buckingham Palace balcony unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, and they didn't sit next to them at Friday's Thanksgiving Service either. So, what's the deal?
If, like us, you tuned in to watch the royals mark the Queen's Jubilee with a ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral on Friday 3 June, you might have been wondering why the former Fab Four were sat so bloody far away from each other. Well, according to one royal insider, there's a very good reason for that.
"Senior members of the royal family were seated in the front row and non-senior members in the second row," a royal source told Us Weekly. But, that's not all, as the insider also revealed that the seating plan had been arranged to divert any unwanted attention away from Prince Harry and Meghan, and Prince William and Kate.
In fact, according to the source, it was the palace’s decision "to keep them on opposite sides of [the] cathedral to avoid any unwanted attention", particularly after the couples were "scrutinised" during the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service — the Duke and Duchess' final engagement as senior working royals.
Thankfully, it seems the family were able to keep things civil during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee festivities, with Prince Charles revealing they had celebrated "togetherness" rather than "bickering" with each other. The future King's optimism for a harmonious few days with his family came as a welcome surprise, given that there has been a growing royal rift since the Sussexes stepped back from royal life – putting a big focus on the deterioration of the once close bond between Harry and his brother, William.
Sadly, with not much Fab Four content being seen over the Platinum Jubilee weekend, whether or not the former royal gang are BFFs again remains to be seen...
