Whilst we may be used to referring to them as Prince William and his wife Catherine (most commonly called 'Kate Middleton'), or the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it seems that a big change could be on the horizon for our fave royal couple – as the Cambridges are apparently set to mix up their titles, or at least the way in which they're used.
Following their recent royal tour of the Caribbean, which received varying reviews (with some suggesting on social media that the Cambridges greeting well-wishers from behind metal fences in Jamaica had imperialistic undertones), it's said that the couple are thinking hard about the way they wish to come across in future.
According to a source [via The Mirror], a big part of this shake-up is looking at how the Cambridges can be more 'approachable' to members of the public.
How are they planning on doing this? Well, it looks like it could be goodbye to any formal monikers in future and hello to plain old 'Wills and Kate' moving forward.
"They want to be more approachable, less formal, less stuffy and break away with a lot of the tradition," the source said.
The unnamed person continued on to say, "When the team arrived back in London the couple had a debrief with aides. They went over everything and pinpointed specific things that went wrong and how to improve moving forward.
Everyone's clicking on...
"The general consensus was that the tour seemed out of date, out of touch, too formal and stuffy. So now it’s more 'Wills and Kate' instead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge... 'Just call me Wills' type of thing."
Their formal titles aren't the only thing potentially getting the chop either, the source added, explaining that curtseying and bowing for the royal couple may also soon become a thing of the past.
"They want to try to avoid the bows and curtsies in public, be more approachable, less formal, less stuffy, and break away with a lot of the tradition and focus on a modern monarchy."
Maybe they'll move on to high-fives, instead of curtsies? We can't wait to see what other changes the Cambridges bring in too.
