There have been rumblings about Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis, being set to relocate for some time now, but new reports say that the big move could happen as soon as this summer – and all for a very poignant reason.

Stories have emerged over the last few months suggesting that the Cambridges will be exiting their apartment in London's Kensington Palace, as neither William and Kate "have ever been London people", and moving on to pastures new. Various locations have been suggested by royal insiders, who have vetoed the Cambridges second home - Anmer Hall in Norfolk - becoming a permanent home for the family, due to it being too far away from George and Charlotte's school and other relatives.

"Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham but it doesn’t really work any more," an insider recently revealed to the Mail on Sunday.

Now, however, it seems as though many royal experts are in agreement that the Cambridges will be moving to Windsor (or at least somewhere very near by), in order to be closer to the Queen and offer Her Majesty, who has recently been having a bit of a tough time with her health, more support.

It's known that with the Queen becoming older and less agile, she has stepped back from some of her public appearances, and that the Cambridges, along with Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, are doing more to help – so it makes sense that William and Kate would want to live closer to her too.

As for exactly where in Windsor the Cambridges may end up residing, plenty of suggestions are in the mix – ranging from Fort Belvedere on the Queen's Windsor Estate, to Frogmore House.

Everyone's clicking on...

If it is to be Fort Belvedere, the home has a very rich history: in spite of being a mere stone's throw away from her home at Windsor Castle, the impressive Gothic Revival style property hasn't been lived in by a member of the Royal Family since 1976, when the Queen's cousin Gerald Lascelles moved out. Before that, it was famously inhabited by the Queen's uncle, Prince Edward, who lived there with Wallis Simpson in the 1930s.
