It's been quite some time since we've seen Prince Harry back in the UK, with his most recent public appearance being at the an unveiling of a statue in memory of his mother, Princess Diana, last July. Prior to this, he also attended the funeral of his beloved grandfather, Prince Philip, in April last year.
His wife Meghan Markle has also been notably absent since the couple carried out the last of their duties as senior working royals, back in March 2020, so royal fans have been eagerly awaiting an update from the Sussexes about when they might be heading on over for a visit.
Naturally, we were excited to hear there's now been a bit of news shared regarding when the Duke and Duchess may next reunite with the Queen, the Cambridges and co, after many have speculated that the couple (or Harry alone) could make a return for the upcoming memorial service for Prince Philip on 29 March at Westminster Abbey.
Unfortunately that idea has been vetoed, as a new statement has been shared with the public and press announcing that Prince Harry will not be in attendance – but it did give hope that he'll be making his way to the UK before too long, as it sounds as though he is eager to reunite with his grandmother, the Queen.
The very brief statement issued reads: "The Duke will not be returning to the UK in late March, but hopes to visit his grandmother as soon as possible."
Whilst no reason was given, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that Prince Harry's choice to miss the family event could be due to his ongoing dispute over security. Since stepping down from their senior working royal roles, Meghan and Harry have commented publicly on how the protection they were previously provided has been stripped back, despite the safety risks remaining the same.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that everything can be worked out soon – we'd love to see the royals reunite as one big happy family (especially for the Queen's joyful Jubilee celebrations).
