With Prince William recently revealing Prince George's passion for video games, and Princess Charlotte's love of spiders being a well known fact, many of us have been wondering what puts a sparkle in Prince Louis' eyes? Well, wonder no more, as Kate Middleton just let on that her youngest child goes "kamikaze" over rugby – which is pretty fitting, given that she's just taken over from brother-in-law Prince Harry as patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union.
Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge joined the England team's rugby players for a kickabout at Twickenham Stadium. "I'm very proud to be here. I've got lots to learn, I've been looking at different players and tactics", she told the men's and women's team players who'd come to meet her.
During her visit, the Duchess revealed that her children not only love watching rugby matches, but playing rugby too, particularly three-year-old Louis who is a big fan. "They're all enjoying it," she said when asked if her three children are interested in the game. "Louis is kamikaze, we're worrying about when he gets older, he'll be in the middle of everything."
After their game, the women's team gifted Kate with England kits for eight-year-old Prince George, six-year-old Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, too. Perhaps we'll see them running around on a pitch in the not too distant future, eh? A mini royal rugby team in the making.
And, it seems a passion for sports runs in the family, as the Duchess also revealed that Prince George has recently taken up netball as well as rugby at his school, Thomas's Battersea. "Now that there is a move towards co-ed sport, so it's not just girls playing netball, but other sports like rugby, which is great," she said.
Prince George's interest in sports should come as no surprise, given that last year he was spotted watching England's football team at the UEFA Euro cup. Although he wasn't allowed to wear an England shirt – per mum Kate's request, who is helping him prepare for his 'destiny' – that didn't stop him from cheering on the players though, and sharing one hell of a sweet bonding moment with dad Prince William when the team scored a goal.
