We've absolutely loved following Princess Eugenie's journey as a first-time mother this year, as she's generously shared photos and videos of her son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, along the way.
Now it's reported that little August, who was born back in February, in the midst of the pandemic, was due to be christened last weekend, but that Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, had to make the difficult last-minute decision to cancel the event. Why? As with many events this year, unfortunately plans had to be put on hold as a guest received the sad news that they must self-isolate. It's unclear if the guest had tested positive for COVID-19, or if they'd just been informed that they'd been in contact with somebody else who has.
The happy occasion was reportedly due to take place at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor on Saturday, with The Queen and Princess Eugenie's pregnant sister, Princess Beatrice, and her husband, Edo Mapelli Mozzi, in attendance. Also on the list, we're sure, would've been August's grandparents (Eugenie and Beatrice's mother and father), Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew.
It is not known which of the guests received the news that they must self-isolate, but it doesn't seem unlikely to suggest it was somebody of great importance to Jack and Eugenie if they've rearranged the whole event because of it, rather than ploughing ahead.
Currently, in accordance to COVID rules, up to 30 people can attend a christening.
Eugenie and Jack paid tribute to several family members when it came to naming their now five-month-old son – with the Princess sharing details about August's name on her Instagram Stories shortly after his birth. On social media, the Princess wrote that it pays homage to both her grandfather, Prince Philip, who sadly died around two months after August's birth, and other family members from Jack's side.
Everyone's clicking on...
"On his grandfather's birthday weekend, [and] thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy," Eugenie began. "He is named after his great grandfather [Philip] and both of his great x5 grandfathers. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank."
Hopefully it won't be too long before Princess Eugenie, Jack and their loved ones can get another date in the diary, so that little August can safely have his big day as planned.
