Last night was a nail-biting ride for all of us, as England sadly lost out to Italy on penalties during the UEFA Euro 2020 cup. The crowd was packed with recognisable faces, from David Beckham to Kate Moss, and three prominent members of the royal family too: Prince William (who is also President of The Football Association), his wife, Catherine The Duchess of Cambridge, and their eldest son, Prince George, a known sports fan.
This was the second time the youngster has been spotted in the stands cheering his country on during the competition, but certainly not the only time he has accompanied his parents to a game (he was also pictured during a 2019 match where Norwich City went head-to-head with Aston Villa).
But, back to last night! While pretty much everyone's eyes were firmly on the pitch, eagle-eyed royal fans also spotted a couple of incredibly cute father-son bonding moments between the two future kings - firstly after England scored an early goal, and then later following the team's defeat.
After Shaw scored for England in the second minute, a delighted Prince William leapt up out of his chair, punched the air and then immediately turned to cuddle the 7-year-old beside him. An equally delighted George then bounced up and down with glee, before turning to then give his mother a happy hug too.
Also, just a tiny side note: can we discuss those adorable matching outfits that the pair are sporting too? Seeing the little Prince in his smart blazer and tie is honestly too much for us right now!

Of course, it wasn't only the jolly times that Prince William was on hand to support his son though - after the game didn't fall England's way, the future king was seen with his hands on the disappointed child's shoulders offering comfort (and no doubt words of wisdom). The Duchess of Cambridge can also be seen looking downcast over the final result and standing close to her family.
Although it's of course disappointing that England weren't the ones to take home the trophy, it's lovely to see that the tournament offered the Cambridges - like so many other families - an opportunity to create special lifelong memories together.
