Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the birth of their second child, a daughter named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, born Friday (June 4). Since the official announcement was made via the couple's Archewell website on Sunday (June 6), congratulations have been flooding in from members of the Royal Family. Here's how they all reacted to the happy news.
In a heartfelt message shared on the official Royal Family twitter account, Buckingham Palace said the Queen and other senior royals are "delighted" with the news. "Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!" said the tweet, "The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news. Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild."
The tweet also included a photo from Harry and Meghan's wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018.
Over on their Instagram account, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a photo from Harry and Meghan's pregnancy shoot, alongside a sweet caption. "We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili" said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, "Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie."
Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also took to socials to share their congratulations, and to welcome their new grandchild to the world. "Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana" they said, "Wishing them all well at this special time."
It's been a busy year so far for the Royal Family when it comes to newborns, and plenty of congratulations have been in order. As well as the arrival of baby Lilibet, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, a son August, in February. In March, Zara and Mike Tindall's third child, a son Lucas, was born, and earlier this year, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced they're also expecting their first child, due in autumn.
