The serving Metropolitan Police officer who was arrested in connection with the case of a missing woman named Sarah Everard has now been arrested for murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure.
Sarah, a 33-year-old marketing executive, disappeared last Wednesday evening (3 March) as she was walking from a friend's house in Clapham, London back to her home in Brixton, under an hour away by foot.
It's said that the unnamed suspect, who is in his 40s and who works within the diplomatic and parliamentary protection unit, was originally detained on Tuesday evening on suspicion of kidnap, however, as of 3pm today (10 March) the Met Police shared the update that the disappearance is being treated as a murder case.
The serving officer was arrested at an address in Kent, along with an unnamed woman who stands accused of assisting an offender.
CCTV spotted Sarah at approximately 9.30pm walking alone on the A205, which is now her last known location. After a plea to the public for more information, the police have received more than 100 calls and have carried out an extensive investigation, visiting more than 750 homes in the nearby area and searching local open spaces.
Earlier on today, the Met Police department shared an update on social media and said that they were still keen to hear from anybody who may have any information about Sarah's disappearance. Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave gave a statement urging the public to continue checking door and dash cam footage, and shared a reminder that no piece of information is too small.

Sarah Everard's family, who have been kept informed of the recent developments in the case, said it was out of character for her to disappear. The Durham University graduate was wearing a green rain jacket, navy trousers with a white diamond pattern, and turquoise and orange trainers when she was last seen. She is also believed to have been wearing green earphones and a white beanie hat on her walk home.
