It looks like Mother Nature has been paying some serious attention to millennials and their love of the colour pink, after a lake in Australia has turned our favourite shade.

Salt Water Lake in Westgate Park, Melbourne has become the most covetable place to be photographed on Instagram thanks to a weird, natural phenomenon that transforms the colour of the water during warmer months.

As explained by Visit Melbourne, the pink colour emerges when the salt levels in the water rise, combined with lots of sunlight and a lack of rainfall. When these conditions arise, algae grows in the salt crust at the bottom of the lake and produces a red pigment as part of the photosynthesis process, which reflects pink when looking at the water.

And I've gotta say it looks pretty cool.

As you can imagine, all the pictures are being taken at Salt Water Lake right now:

The lake first turned pink in December 2012, and has apparently changed colour almost every Australian summer since. But if you were planning on booking flights to Melbourne asap to go and bathe in this millennial pink sensation, I'm going to have to stop you right there and warn you it's not a good idea to get into the water.

Everyone's clicking on...

Although it's not specified exactly what would happen if you dived right in, authorities in Melbourne advise people not to come into contact with the water - even for the sake of a hella good Instagram post.

You have been warned.
