Hayley’s Love Island comment about Brexit meaning no trees might still be the strangest thing to come out of the villa in 2018, but according to an MP we have bigger EU-related things to talk about.
In fact, she thinks the future of the summer series could be in jeopardy when we leave the European Union in 2019.
Labour’s Jess Phillips, a fan of the show, told The Mirror that being on Love Island is considered employment, but leaving the EU will make it harder for British citizens to be employed outside of the UK.
Jess said: “To work in another country will be much more difficult and Love Island I think would be considered to be work.”
Sorry, what?
Of course, if this is the case it will affect plenty more than the Love Island cast and its fans. According to the organisation British in Europe, which campaigns on behalf of the 1.3 million British citizens living in other EU countries, the future is incredibly uncertain for this group.
Everyone's clicking on...
To make matters worse, there's also a rumour we won't be able to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. Soo... yeah.
However, we don't really now exactly how Brexit will affect employment just yet, so let's not worry too much about how we'll cope in summer 2019 without our daily fix of Love Island.
Worst comes to worst, the 2019 series set in Margate, anyone?
