So many things can be controlled via Bluetooth or an app nowadays: your headphones, Apple TV, or your favourite speaker. And while sex tech has been trialling it out for a while now, in 2025 the industry is (finally…) refining its Bluetooth controllable offerings.
Admittedly, there is something a little bit questionable about controlling something that goes inside you via your phone (not to scare you), but when Lovense’s Lush 4 G-spot vibrator dropped, I knew I had to try it.
One Cosmo writer highly rated its previous iteration, declaring the Lush 3 the best app-controlled vibrator she’s ever used, so I was curious to see how the latest version measured up.
EYNTK about the Lovense Lush 4
At £219.00, the Lush 4 comes in at £20 more than the Lush 3 — but the brand currently has an early bird sale on, so you lucky chicks can get it for just £109.00. Visually, Lush 4 looks pretty similar to v.3 — it’s a C-shaped vibe with a bulbous ‘egg’ shape on one end (meant to nestle next to the G-spot) and a thin tail on the other.
But the extra cash for the latest version accounts for its speedier charging time (just 50 minutes for up to 350 minutes of playtime, or five minutes for an hour, compared with 85 minutes for the Lush 3), 30 metres more Bluetooth range (105 metres in total), and slightly lower noise levels, which the brand claims is quieter than a library and only slightly louder than a whisper.
Unlike the previous version, the Lush 4’s tail (which rests on the outside of your vulva when the G-spot end is inserted) also features a LED light, the colours of which you can assign to different vibration patterns via the Lovense app, so you never forget your favourites.
And that’s not even the best part — while other remote or app-controlled vibrators usually come with no more than 20 pre-set intensities and patterns, the Lovense app allows you to programme an unlimited number of pattern combinations using the remote, or choose from hundreds of other users’ pre-programmed patterns.
The brand’s investment in variety has clearly paid off, as the little vibe has a review average of 4.9 stars on the Lovense website — which, if you’re not as familiar as sex tech reviews as we are at Cosmo, is pretty much unprecedented.
As you can imagine, I was buzzing to dive into it (literally…).
How to use the Lovense Lush 4 G-spot vibrator
Before putting anything inside you — finger, dildo, or love egg included — it’s essential that you’re fully aroused. The same goes for the Lush 4, although I know the temptation to put your new Lovense lover inside you is strooong (trust me).
Luckily, the Lush 4 only takes five minutes to charge for an hour of play, so if you’re that desperate (no shame!) to get going, you won’t have to wait around for long. Before you hook the magnetic charger up to the toy, it might be a good idea to download the Lovense remote control app on your phone, and pair your sex toy with the ‘+’ button in the upper right hand corner, as you probs won’t want to do this when it’s fully charged.
While you wait for your *juicer* to have juice in it, it’s time to start getting yourself off. If you have other sex toys in your bedside table drawer, like a bullet vibrator or a clit sucker, this could be the time to crack one out — if not a trusty finger will definitely do the job. You could even take the time to figure out where your G-spot is...
Now is your chance to turn yourself on however you know best — maybe put some audio porn or fantasy erotica on in the background — and start by dragging your fingers over your nipples, lips, and other erogenous zones.
Once your body is responsive to your touch, and you start to feel aroused, you can then head south to your clitoris, and start to gently tease it. By this point, your Lush should be charged, and you can switch it on at the lowest setting using the button on the tail.
Douse it in your favourite water-based lube and use it to stimulate your C-spot until you notice your vagina is naturally self-lubricating and your G-spot (two to three centimetres inside the vagina, FYI) feels soft and engorged when you put a finger up there.
Voila! Just like that you’re ready to slide your Lush in there, and now all we can do is bid you adieu on your exploration of the many settings the toy has to offer. Just remember to put your phone on DND.
How we tested the Lovense Lush 4
As Cosmo’s senior sex and relationships e-commerce writer, I take my job testing sex toys very seriously. I did all of the above multiple times over — to measure the Lush 4’s associated app, power, battery life, waterproof capability, and ergonomic design.
More about me: I’m a cis woman in my mid-20s, who has been writing and podcasting about sex and relationships for the last five years. Naturally, this means I’ve tested a whole load of sex toys at this point (lucky me, I know), many of them in my role at Cosmopolitan UK.
Our honest review of the Lovense Lush 4

- As many people can connect to it from around the world as you like
- Extremely quiet when inside you (perfect for public play)
- Ideal for long-distance relationships or those with multiple partners
Cons

First impressions
This toy only comes in one colour — a pretty vibrant pink, which fans of subtlety probs won’t appreciate — so that’s the one I got (obvs). Unboxing the toy was quite underwhelming; despite the high price point on this toy (a steep £219, but it is on sale for £109 RN) the packaging is pretty basic.
It doesn’t come with any of the fun little touches other brands like LELO, Womanizer, and Smile Makers include — I’m talking stickers, travel pouches, and sachets of lube. Luckily, I had high hopes for this toy so I persisted.
Upon taking the Lush 4 out of the box, there were two things I noticed: the material and the shape. Considering this toy is purely intended for internal use, the silicone is quite hard, with essentially no squish, which I was slightly intimidated by as a fan of soft and malleable toys.
But I was immediately intrigued by the shape. One end is pointed like an arrow and has a silver teardrop shape on it, which curves in a C shape round to the other, more bulbous, end. The magnetic charging port sits on the underside of the smaller end, as does the button to turn it on.
Following the instructions in the manual (good job, me 😌) I realised I could charge the toy for five minutes to get a whopping 50 minutes of use — more than enough to get the job done, usually.
After making myself comfortable and trailing my current fave clit vibrator (the LELO DOT, in case you’re wondering) over my external erogenous zones to warm myself up, I pushed the singular control button and the buzzer jolted to life.
Getting started
Like a dragon awoken from its slumber, the silver teardrop on the smaller end revealed a slit of LED light, which the instructions told me could be customised via the Lovense app. However, I decided to use the toy in its natural habitat (AKA manually, using the button) before losing myself in the world of tech.
I knew that the pointed end would, eventually, serve as a clit stimulator when I inserted the toy. But I’m always curious how any toy intended for internal use measures up as an external toy as, if you’re anything like me, you’re not always in the mood for penetration (spoiler: not all of them pass the test).
So I started there: after slathering the egg-shaped end of the toy in water-based lube, I dragged it across the full length of my vulva. (Hint: pressing it into the base of your vaginal opening can feel really good as ‘foreplay’ to fully inserting the toy.)
As I cycled through the seven programmed patterns — which includes a pretty standard three speeds and four patterns — the LED light changed colours. That was probably the most exciting part of this ‘section’ of the test, as the patterns are nothing to write home about.
And, despite the brand’s claims that this toy is quieter than a library, it was definitely audible as an external toy — so watch out if you decide to use it for that.
Going deeper
Quickly, I became curious about the wonders that lay behind the Lovense app, and I whipped my phone out and opened up the remote, which can be found on the ‘Home’ tab.
By this point, I was feeling ready for some penetration (it’s always worth checking in with yourself folks!), so I added a little more lube before gently pushing the larger end about an inch into my vagina, so it would sit against my G-spot, curving the other end to sit against my clit.
Power
Almost instantly, I realised the app was undeniably the way to go. The remote function can be controlled using either a slider that illustrates the vibrations as waves, or a ‘traditional’ remote with an up and down slider. If you don’t mind looking at your phone constantly while you get off, you can continue manually controlling the waves throughout the whole of your solo sesh.
Personally, I’d rather not look at a screen while I’m doing something I consider to be a relaxing activity. So instead, I made full use of the ‘loop’ function, by programming my own patterns (which can be as long or as short as you like) and then letting it play on repeat as I lay back and soaked in the sensations.
App features
The remote control is not all the app offers — it truly opens up a whole new world of experimentation when it comes to masturbating. Music during sex lovers, listen up: if you have Spotify Premium you can sync the vibrations with your favourite tunes (queue Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’).
Unfortunately, this is bad news for anyone with Apple Music, like me (I don’t want to hear it, okay!), but you can also choose from a shockingly exhaustive library of patterns programmed by other Lovense toy users if it’s unexpected peaks and troughs you’re looking for.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, perhaps the most impressive thing about the app is its potential for connecting with other users — that you either know or don’t.
Like most app-controlled toys, the Lush 4 can be controlled by a long-distance partner from anywhere in the world, and if they have their own Lovense toy like the Gush or Solace Pro, even better, as you can sync both toys to vibrate at the same time. But why should sharing the love be reserved for people who are already coupled up?
For the more experimental among us, the app also boasts the option to chat with other users on the app at the same time as you. This can be as anonymous as you like — though if you’re skilled at sending sexy snaps, now’s your time to shine — and you can get your kicks by relinquishing full control of your toy.
Plus, good news for any polyamorous people reading: this toy can also be connected with an unlimited number of people around the world.
If this is starting to sound like a mouthful for you — think about how I feel! Honestly, this app has so many features that it would take me years to talk through them all, but here’s a glimpse into the smorgasbord of ways you can get off via the Lovense app:
- Connect with VibeMate to sync your toy with erotic AI videos or chat with AI characters
- Unlock Speed Mode to vibrate your toy in time with how fast you’re moving (not in a car, because that could be dangerous, more like if you’re on a run or something…)
- Win while you… wank (?!) by connecting with games such as Tetris, Ludo, bingo, and 2048
The verdict
Being so for real, I can’t say I tried all the features available on the app (I’m only one person!), but I can say with certainty that the fact that the app unlocks so many options in terms of vibrations patterns and ways of playing means you have no reason to ever get bored of the Lush.
Considering a large part of my job is to review sex toys, even I had no idea there were so many ways of wanking in this world. Lovense has done such a comprehensive job at making the toy accessible to everyone; there are very few who won’t be able to enjoy everything it has to offer — as it’s a great choice for long distance partners, single people, and poly folk alike.
Once the toy is inside you, it lives up to its just-above-whisper audio levels, making it ideal for public play (not that Cosmo would condone anything of the sort!), too.
While the Lush 4 boasts a pretty much endless list of features, my only wish would be that more attention was paid to the design. Though intended to stimulate the clitoris, the smaller arm of the vibrator is pretty teensy, and I can see it not fully hitting the sweet spot for everyone.
Plus, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a softer, squishier tip on the insertable end to slightly offset the (seriously powerful!) vibrations — which could be too much for more sensitive vulvas out there.
Overall, if you’re buying the toy at £109 (ie. 50% off) it’s absolutely worth the investment. But unless you’re in a LDR, really invested in playing with strangers on the internet, or wanting a toy to get lost in, £219 might be a little bit of a stretch.
