Whether it's on a dating app or in person, finding a way to open a conversation can be tricky. You want to come off as confident and fun, while still being respectful. While considered a bit outdated, pick-up lines can be a flirty way to break the ice (no polar bear necessary) – if you’re looking for some opening lines that are a bit sexier, may we take the liberty of recommending some rizz lines?
What is rizz?
First of all, what even is rizz? Short for ‘charisma’, rizz is a slang term for your ability to flirt or charm people – especially those who you think make be “out of your league” (although, does anyone believe in leagues any more??).
Popularised by streamer Kai Cenat, and later, TikToker Henry De Tolla who went viral for using the phrase “Livvy rizzed up Baby Gronk”, ‘rizz’ was the Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year for 2023 – leaving everyone over the age of 23 muttering “what the f*ck” to themselves.
Now we’ve got the definition out the way, let's get to the good stuff! We rounded up some of our rizziest lines – plus a few bangers from TikTok.
What are the best rizz lines?
- Are you Medusa? because you make me rock hard
- Call me Amazon Prime how I overnight that package
- Hey, are you my appendix? Because I have no idea how you work, but this feeling in my stomach makes me want to take you out
- Is your name wifi? Because I’m feeling a connection
- My name's [your name], but you can call me any time
- Do you have a map? Because I got lost in your eyes
- Are you from Paris? Because Eiffel for you
- Are you a Disney ride? Because I'd wait forever for you
- My phone must be broken because it doesn’t seem to have your number in it
- Are you a nurse? Because I just broke my knee falling for you
- Your hand looks heavy – can I hold it for you?
- Need me to tie your laces? Because I don't want you falling for anyone else
- I’d take you to the movies but I’m not allowed to bring snacks in
- I bet you suck at kissing – want to prove me wrong?
- I believe in following my dreams — can I have your Instagram?
Rember, these lines are just for a bit of fun and you’re better of starting a conversation with a simple introduction or by (politely) commenting on something about them. But, if you're brave enough, why not give these rizz lines a try!
