First loves Brittany, 26, and Navid, 24, were together for a year and a half after meeting at university, where Navid made the first move when he saw Brittany studying in the library.

Navid said he and Brittany had an "instant connection", whilst Brittany loved that they shared "fundamental values". However, they would argue over both of their friends having too much input in the relationship - Navid thought Brittany's friends didn't like him, and Brittany saw texts from Navid's friend saying he could do better - which is what eventually lead to them breaking up.

Cosmopolitan UK decided to step in and sent these two first loves on a date back in May 2019 to see if there was still a spark. Watch the video below to find out how it went.

After the date, pharmacy dispenser Brittany said she wouldn't see Navid romantically again, and that she was enjoying dating other people. Navid, a pharmacist, said it was nice to rekindle their friendship and that he was open to seeing what happens in the future.

Three months later, we caught up with them to see what happened next...

Navid and Brittany decided to remain friends

Have you seen each other since the date?

Navid: "Yes, we have. We see each other every month or so, and text occasionally just to check up on each other.

Everyone's clicking on...

"We're good friends now and it's lovely to catch up with Brittany about how life is going for her and to tell her about what I'm up to.

"Even though we're not together anymore, we're still there for each other and have nothing but respect for one another."

Brittany: "I see Navid sometimes as he still pops into the chemist that I work in (his parents own it). We have a quick catch up every time he comes in, and if either of us posts something on social media we'll comment on it.

"There's no awkwardness between us at all, from my point of view."

Is there a reason why you haven't rekindled things romantically?

Brittany: "You grow up and realise that it wasn't meant to be. And to be honest, the trust went from my side. I'm happy with where I'm at today, and where me and Navid are too.

Navid: "After we broke up we just felt like the love connection was no longer there. However, we still have so much love as friends and we are nothing but caring for each other. The friendship will always remain between us."
