So, I talked to Tinder’s dating and relationship expert, Darcy Sterling, PhD, to learn all her secrets tricks and tiny tweaks so that you'll get more matches with the right people for you. Let's do this.
Your Profile Info
1. Add one point in your bio that offers insight into who are you as a person
I.e. You’re a huge Game of Thrones fan, you believe in pineapple on pizza, or you stan Ariana Grande’s new album. But no need to include the vanilla info, like where you work, where you live, your age, school, etc. since Tinder already lists those details. Use your bio as a place to let your personality shine, girl!
2. Be direct about what you're looking for
You don’t have to straight up say, “Serious Enquiries Only” (come on, this isn’t a job interview!) but you can definitely make it known that you're looking to DTR—not "WYD?" texts.

3. Include one open-ended question
“This is a great way to ensure a message after getting a match,” says Dr. Sterling. We all know one of the biggest issues singles face on dating apps is how to start a convo with anything other than "hi" (which is the worst, for the record). So hit 'em with a conversation prompt directly in your profile, such as, “What does your Sunday evening look like?” or “What type of friend are you in the group chat?”
Your Pics
1. Wear bright colours in your pics
I get it, I know you rock that LBD so well, but show off some colour. It makes you pop!
2. Include pics that show you doing your fave activities
If you’re brunching every weekend, snap a picture of you with that mimosa. If you love museums, choose the photo that shows you gazing at a piece of art work.
3. Nix the sunglass photos
People want to see your gorge face, duh! “It can come across as being standoffish,” explains Dr. Sterling.
4. Turn on ‘Smart Photos’ in your info tab
This Tinder algorithm tests your top pics and places the one with the most right swipes at the very front. In other words, Tinder does the work for you, ensuring you get more matches.
5. Don’t hide behind your friends
We get it, you have friends. But this is YOUR profile, not your friends. Keep the pictures focused on you.
