Since 2020, more than a third of UK nightclubs have closed, so never has it been so important to support our independent venues. Providing nights out for all types of communities and hosting talented musicians spanning all genres, clubbing underpins London’s nightlife and contributes millions to the economy.

So, next time someone asks what your Saturday night plans are, look to our list of London’s best clubs and have a boogie in the name of cultural preservation! There’s no shortage of events catering to all tastes, from electronic light shows to drag karaoke, I call all party-goers and good-time seekers to find their next night to remember (or not!).

Address: DRUMSHEDS, Meridian Water, N18 3HF
Nearest station: Meridian Water
Music: Electronic

Drumsheds made headlines last year when the former IKEA replaced Printworks as the newest, biggest, warehouse club in London. With a 15,000 capacity, this is more of an events venue than your local discotheque but that makes it ideal for a big night (or day!) out and draws huge headline names. Not to mention the various rooms, food stalls, bars, and their iconic light shows - Drumsheds puts on shows to remember.

Although best known for being a strip club, this five-story venue turns into a regular club every Saturday. The unsuspecting townhouse building gives serious Tardis energy as the inside is full of surprises, including a beach-themed room complete with real sand and a tiki bar. Metropolis also has a rooftop meaning you can party on under the light of the moon - a rare find in the capital. It’s a club for the carefree - dress as you like and have as much fun as you dare.

Village Underground’s exposed brick walls and large open dance floor are what makes this club come alive. It feels gritty and authentic, calling to all those just down for a good two-stepping to some good music. They pride themselves on championing smaller artists so it might be worth checking out their line-up to catch some of your favs before they’re headlining Glasto.

Consistently appearing in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 Clubs in the World, Fabric is without a doubt one of London’s most iconic nightclubs. For lovers of a more intimate night, I implore you to take a trip down to Peckham Audio. A smaller capacity venue, but not lacking in big names, the club has brought in DJs of all calibres who guarantee an unreal soundtrack to your night of two-stepping. There are a few rooms sectioned off at the back for when you need a quick debrief with mates, but the single dancefloor room means you're bound to get chatting to like-minded people.

Arguably the best club in the city, a good night out is guaranteed at Phonox (I can personally vouch, having been there more times than I can count). The venue has a smaller capacity than most clubs which makes the space feel intimate and easy to navigate. There’s also a basement filled with plush sofas for anyone in need of a break. Line-ups and residencies are always carefully curated, promising some of the best electronic sets every week.

Address: Valette St, London E9 6NU
Nearest station: Hackney Central (Overground)
Music: Northern Soul, 80's, Disco

Here at Cosmo, we love a little two-in-one action, and Moth Club is a live music venue that doubles as a club. Having a boogie in Moth Club is like stepping back in time to a 70's school disco (in the *best* way possible). It has reams of streaming tinsel, a stage for your main character moment, and a photobooth tucked away at the back. Honestly... it's hard to beat a photobooth.

The Carpet Shop is an unsuspecting venue just minutes away from Peckham Rye station. Hidden under the railway arches is an underground space that showcases some of the most talented DIY artists popping up right now. It's indie, intimate, and, in my opinion, just a class night out.

Infernos

Address: 146 Clapham High St, London SW4 7UH
Nearest station: Clapham Common, Clapham North
Music: Pop

Although many may disagree with Infernos' place on this list, there’s no denying the facts: Infernos is a Clapham institution. There aren’t many other clubs that have guaranteed queues down the street every. single. weekend. And let’s face it, if it’s good enough for Margot Robbie, it’s good enough for us. Guaranteed cheesy tunes, wild dance moves, and even a podium for those brave enough, Infernos is always a safe bet for a good night out with your mates.
