Good news if you have a long-haul adventure on your bucket list as British Airways may have just made it more likely to actually happen.
In a bid to make their fares more competitive, BA has launched super cheap 'basic' air fares on some of their long haul routes. The only catch? You will have to pay to check in your luggage, around £80 return.
While you can't take a big bag on board without paying, your ticket does include an allowance of two hand bags, and you still get the complimentary food and drink onboard. PHEW.
The new basic fares will be available from London to the following destinations: Austin (from £246), Boston (from £175), Delhi (from £210), Denver (from £191), Dubai (from £143), Hong Kong (from £228), Oakland (from £185), Philadelphia (from £234), Punta Cana (from £240) and Singapore (from £230).
"We need to ensure that the fares we provide reflect those differing needs so customers can select the best option for them on that occasion", BA's chief commercial officer Adam Daniels said, according to The Sun.
"Someone travelling for a short meeting or leisure break, who isn't planning to check in a bag and is happy for us to allocate them a seat, will appreciate the option to secure a lower fare.
"They'll still receive our generous hand baggage allowance, a seat allocated to them in advance, complimentary food and drink, in-flight entertainment, blankets and headphones, all at no extra cost."
