The best silk bedding sets to slip into every night
Give your boudoir a glamorous update

If you want to feel ridiculously boujie in bed then there’s really only one way to do it, invest in a set of silk sheets. We’re telling you, hotel worthy sleep and the most glamorous of looking beds are literally a shopping basket away.
Ok in all seriousness, yes, silk bedding is often at the pricer end of the sleeping spectrum, but it's for good reason. The silk material, mulberry silk if it’s the really good stuff, lends itself to temperature regulated sleep, aka perfect for those of us (myself included) who become hot sweaty messes when they sleep. And cast your mind back a few years ago when everyone wanted a silk pillowcase? Yep this bedding is great for your skin and hair too.
Considering it’s more of an investment buy we’ve done a deep dive into all things silk so you can make the best purchase for your bedroom.
What are the benefits of silk bedding?
Silk bedding doesn’t just look good, there’s a whole host of benefits that makes it a superior bedding choice. It’s hypoallergenic, and repels dust mites so it’s ideal if you suffer from asthma or allergies.
Due to the air pockets in the silk, it’s a breathable bedding, which means if you often get overheated or find yourself sweating at night, it’s going to be better for you as it allows you to cool down and not get so sweaty in the first place. It’s why so many people opt for silk bedding come the warmer months. But as we get into cosy season, it’s also worth pointing out that it’s also an insulating fabric so it will keep you warm come winter. Basically you get the best of both worlds.
Silk has some proper beauty benefits too. The slippier material makes for a really smooth surface to lay your head on, causing less friction than cotton and thus helping fight against wrinkles. This is also kinder on your hair, causing less static and therefore keeping your curls or blowdry looking great for longer.
It also absorbs less moisture than cotton, so it's a healthier choice for acne sufferers – it won't soak up so much grime and oil (ick) and so will keep things more hygienic. It also means it won't absorb your skincare products, so they can stay where they belong – on your face.
What should I look for in silk bedding?
There’s quite a bit to know when it comes to silk, and the fabric actually has its own grading system. Mulberry silk is what’s used for bedding and there are 11 grades to it. The creme de la creme of mulberry silk is 6A, and then it’s further categorised down into 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, A. There’s then grades B, C and other varieties, but they tend not to be used in bedding.
As the best mulberry silk going, if something is categorised as 6A, it’s going to be sold at a more premium price, so just keep an eye out for the grade category when purchasing. If silk is out of the budget (completely fair enough) then you can also get similar benefits from satin bedding which comes at a much lower cost.
So, if you're looking to treat yourself – you deserve it – we've rounded up some of our fave silk sheets to shop right now.
