We love a surprising colour pairing to bring some much needed life into our homes and this spring blue and brown has become the trending combination for the season. Seen across fashion and homeware, the two tones paired together give a 70s feel and a nod to nostalgia, and Next has just the cushion to dip into the trend.

The blue and brown revival was first seen on the A/W 2025 runaways and since then we've seen it pop up in the highstreet fashion and homeware stores, with rich chocolate brown and bright sky blue often being paired together in everything from brown and blue polka dot skirts, to throws.

We've also seen the pairing work well with rich leather sofas or chairs that are softened by blue cushions or blankets.

Though it feels like it shouldn't work well together, the two shades actually look surprisingly luxurious together and thanks to the two colours associations with the natural world, can also make us feel a lot calmer. It's a win, win.

And we're obsessed with this MADE cushion that's available on Next right now for £32.

MADE Chocolate/Navy Huxley Cotton Velvet Jumbo Pipe Cushion

Chocolate/Navy Huxley Cotton Velvet Jumbo Pipe Cushion

The reversible cushion is rectangular in shape and the main block of the cushion is in a warm cocoa brown shade, and round the edge is a thick jumbo piping detail in a soft blue. On the reverse the cushion is navy with the blue piping. The cushion is made from velvet which makes it look far more expensive than it actually is.

It will look great with a variety of existing interiors, particularly other neutral palettes and give a richness to any lounge or bedroom you put it in. We'd get two and mix and match the pair.

Blue and brown for the win!
