A living room is arguably not complete without a great armchair. Alongside the cosy sofa, an armchair or accent chair not only gives the opportunity for another seat but also allows a different focal point to the room.

By going for an alternative shade or texture in your armchair that differs to your sofa, you then add interest to the room. And right now we've got our eyes on a green gingham chair from Next.

The Nina Campbell Green Bracken Gingham Check Rosebury Accent Chair, which is on sale for £350, is a stunning sage green chair in a gingham pattern, with dark brown wooden legs and gold feet. It's finished with an elegant cream piping detail and made with a soft fabric.

Sage green and gingham are everywhere right now in homeware and fashion, but thankfully gingham is also a timeless print and this chair will still be in style long after the season is over, making it a great investment.

The chair measures in at 85 x 69.5 x 74.5cm and so while a sizeable piece, it's not going to overpower a room, and depending on the size of your living room, you could potentially get two of these chairs for one room. It would also look nice as an accent chair in a bedroom.

It will work for a variety of living rooms and can be accessorised with cosy cream throws and cushions, or darker green shades of olive and fern.

Next shoppers who have purchased the chair also comment on its comfiness, with one reviewer saying, "Delighted with this chair, comfortable, stylish and well made. Leg fitting was easy." And another said: "Comfortable firmish seat but with plenty of spring. Contrasts beautifully with dark green items. Have purchased two for lounge but am considering another for bedroom as its not too large."

The chair also comes in a pink gingham, a classic indigo blue and a warm terracotta shade too.

As much as we love Next's sage green armchair, however, if doesn't quite work for you, here are some other options we've spotted too.
