It's finally here! After weeks of waiting, dreaming and hanging outside our local M&S Food store, Marks and Spencer has finally released their long anticipated Big Daddy 2.0 Pistachio Bar. Filled with a thick pistachio creme and sticky caramel sauce, and coated in a creamy milk chocolate, the bar had a lot of hype to live up to. So does it? Well we tried it earlier today, and this is what we thought.
What is the M&S Dubai Chocolate pistachio bar?
Last year M&S's chunky chocolate bar known as the Big Daddy, which is filled with caramel, peanut butter and roasted peanut pieces, went viral, with many people hailing it the UK's answer to the Dubai chocolate bar.
The Dubai chocolate is a chocolate bar made with pistachio and kadayif, a thin shredded filo pastry.
And now M&S has bought out a pistachio filled bar to rival the iconic chocolate bar. The bar itself was developed over the course of nine months and made with M&S's creamy milk chocolate, and a thick gooey caramel, a layer of biscuit crumb and a nutty and chunky pistachio layer, which is made with real pistachios and pistachio creme.
What does the M&S Big Daddy 2.0 taste like? Our review
It's safe to say the bar caused quite a stir in the Cosmopolitan UK offices when it arrived earlier today.
So what does it actually taste like? Well first things first, we were all big fans of the Big Daddy 2.0. M&S's chocolate always hits the spot, and we liked the not too sweet, not too salty caramel, which had a great caramel pull. Yes it's replacing the cheese pull for 2025.
As for the pistachio filling, it isn't exactly the same as there's kadayif filling - there's no crushed filo pastry in the bar. Therefore it's a bit more solid than the gooey classic Dubai filling.
However, we loved the flavour of the pistachio layer as you can tell it's been made with real pistachios, rather than an artificial flavouring.
The bar is on sale now in M&S Food stores around the country for £8.50, but be quick as it's sure to go soon.
So would we get it again? Well if the empty packet on my desk is anything to go by, it's a big yes to the M&S Big Daddy 2.0 Pistachio.
