Unsurprisingly (and quite rightly so), Greggs customers have been left outraged at the news that the pricer of the humble sausage rolls has gone up from 85p to 90p.

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "A sausage roll from Greggs is now 90p!!! Talk about the price of living going up," while someone else said: "90p for a Greggs sausage roll wtf."

Another added: "Someone phone the police – have just been robbed in Greggs, 90p for a sausage roll!!!"

And the Greggs sausage roll isn't the only item on the menu that's gone up in price – the premium breakfast deal (sausage, bacon or egg roll and a hot drink or fresh juice) has also seen an increase (from £2 to £2.25) which means that customers who want two fillings in their breakfast rolls will have to pay extra.

The price rise first came into effect 20 weeks ago but some people are only just picking up on the fact.

Everyone's clicking on...

And others didn't see what the fuss was about at all...

Greggs told Digital Spy in a statement: "Greggs is a value-led brand committed to providing our customers with excellent value for money. As a business, we always do our best to mitigate industry-wide costs pressures in order to preserve our value credentials, and any price increases are kept to a minimum.

"As previously announced we are seeing significant rises in food ingredient costs and have managed to mitigate most of this impact. As a last resort we have increased the price of selected items including sausage rolls and the savoury deal.

"Customers can still enjoy our great value breakfast deal from £2 for a bacon, sausage or egg breakfast roll and regular hot drink. For customers who like to add extra pieces of bacon, sausage or egg to their breakfast sandwich, we have increased the prices by 25p to cover the cost of this."
