Sagittarius is the 'Most Popular Classmate' of Zodiac School! A lively, funny, clever, warm, outgoing personality with a deep philosophical and soulful core. Often misunderstood, because they present as a social, rebellious butterfly but, underneath, are much more wise and mystical than you’d ever suspect.

Sagittarius’s astrological symbol is the archer and there is a hunter mentality in this sign- ever competitive, ambitious, and ready to be rivals just for fun. They love a challenge, a target, a fresh goal that ideally folk don’t believe they can achieve. Ruled by Jupiter, this sign oozes good luck and abundance and always seems to pull off the impossible. Don’t try and cling to or crowd a Saggie, they’ll run a mile. Like a feral cat, they need to be left alone to roam. They’ll come to you when they want you. And no amount of catnip will persuade them in when they want to be out out!

One trait that most folk who know a Sagittarian well will mention is their brutal honesty. They seriously don’t have a filter when it comes to speaking their mind and saying what everyone else is thinking (but won’t say). They always seem to get away with it too, probably because nothing comes from a place of malice or spite. They are warm and well-meaning.

Adventurous (read: rebellious)

On the one hand, they love to get the wind in their fur, a new horizon on their map, and it’s all jolly good fun. On the other hand, if you’re working with them/living with them/trying to make firm plans with them… This need for freedom can be challenging. Perfect travel/weekend companions, somewhat difficult colleagues and ‘nesting’ partners.

Optimistic (read: naive)

It’s not that Sagittarians are dim-witted; they do realise that other people aren’t all wholesome or filled with good intentions. BUT their default settings are definitely turned on to ‘TRUST’ and ‘BELIEVE’. They don’t like scaremongering or whinging. They don’t want to engage with negativity or bad news until there’s no refuting it. This reluctance to err away from positivity can make them come off as naïve.

Independent (read: unreliable)

Although warm and loving, Sags consistently march to their own drumbeat and are not willing compromisers when it comes to stuff they didn’t dream up/plan/agree to initially. They will never NOT have a plan A, B, C, etc... so they don’t need your input really, and they don’t much want it either. They’ll do what they’re doing, whether you like it or not basically, which means you can only really rely on them when your plans/priorities align.

Philosophical (read: cold)

On face value, Sagittarius looks like a passionate, free-wheeling party animal but, deep down, they are deep thinkers too, and love to figure stuff out, unravel an issue, poke at a theory. They actually prefer the mental and intellectual realm (like their opposite sign, Gemini) to the emotional one. They prefer to ‘think’ vs ‘feel’, and (this is often a big shock as you get to know them) their initial warmth is more of a surface skin. They’re a philosopher at heart.

Sagittarius is very outgoing, social, warm, and friendly. That said, they are usually quite outspoken, opinionated and lack a verbal filter at times, so they can get into as many rows as new alliances.

Sports. Physically adept, competitive and outdoorsy, most Sags are built to play sports. They thrive on the challenge of winning (that Fire sign streak), but they also enjoy the team-building (their open and friendly personality makes them a hit with most other players).

Writing. They love to express themselves, and they have a lot to say as they’re perceptive and social. Many Sagittarians find words come easily to them, and they enjoy entertaining people. Writing delivers on all these fronts.

A Sagittarian’s love language is full on and hearty. If they like you, then you will know about it as they will flirt with, touch, and delight you in every way they can. I think this sign is almost irresistible when they decide to charm an object of affection, they will pull out every stop, and they get plenty of practice so they know ALL the tricks. You are the zodiac’s Doctor Doolittle and people you spend time with need to love critters, furry friends, and creepy crawlies too, because you’re probably going to have quite a few of them in your pad. If people don’t like animals you’re not sure you like them, it’s THAT black and white in your book.

• Clinginess. It literally gives you the ICK. As soon as someone starts asking where you are, demanding more of your time, laying down ~ground rules~ (AAARGH) you’re pretty much already halfway out the door. It’s a red flag.
• A lack of curiosity about philosophical concepts, big picture issues, global events and the unanswered mysteries of life. You are a deep thinker, and you love chewing the fat about the ~big stuff~.
• Being too serious. You are the zodiac’s clown, in the nicest possible way, and making people laugh and being raucously entertaining is your favourite way of passing time. Laughter is a bonder, a healer, a revitaliser, a de-stressor. If someone doesn’t share your humour or really seem to find anything that funny, you CBA. This is a deal breaker.

The zodiac’s freedom fighter and philosopher, Sagittarius needs a good cause to really inspire them when it comes to their career - there has to be a deeper meaning. Sometimes this is ethical and moral, sometimes creative, sometimes community-based or even socially conscious.

Animals are a big hit with all Sagittarius folk and many have a natural instinct for understanding furry, feathered and scaled friends’ needs and fears. Anything related to the natural world makes for a great career path for Sagittarius - from veterinary work to farming or gardening - because they love to be outdoors, in and amongst the natural elements, doing something earthy and practical and with a tangible output.
