The Topshop jeans we're still obsessed with in 2022

While straight-leg jeans have a restrictive reputation, they’re a mega flattering style. Topshop’s take — the now famous Editor jean — instantly gained popularity thanks to its elastane content. It gives the rigid denim a little more flex, but still looks legit. Straight-leg jeans work well with lots of wardrobe basics and are great all year round: layer up with chunky jumpers in winter or strip back with T-shirts and white trainers in summer.

When you can’t think of anything worse than squeezing into a pair of restrictive skinny jeans, your best bet is to opt for a more relaxed alternative. That’s where Mom jeans come into play. It’s mad that they were once notable for being the “uncool” jeans but thankfully we’ve come full circle, finally acknowledging that comfort + ‘80s vibes are a winning combo.

Topshop was one of the first high-street brands to actually cater to petite/tall girls (although we’re still waiting for curve sizes from the brand, shop our edit of the best plus-size brands here). This mid-blue, tapered pair sits perfectly on the ankle to elongate your frame and is comfy enough for all-day wear. Instantly elevate this look with a tailored blazer, heels and some gold jewellery... or dress it down for a casual vibe with fashion trainers and basic tee.

We're all familiar with jeans not sitting comfortably on the waist, and even the most expensive denim hasn’t proved to change this. Remember the day of dodgy jeggings? Yup, we were all wearing tromp l'oeil denim leggings before Topshop swooped in to save the day with the release of its Joni jean. This design is seriously elasticated and glides on as easily as leggings. And at only £36 they’re an absolute steal.

If you were a teen in the noughties, there’s a chance you once owned a pair of Topshop Jamie jeans. This design was around before the high-rise waistband’s renaissance, so fast became the go-to for cool girls and editors. The OG has been upgraded and is now made from recycled fibres.
